Inspiring mum of the year awards was founded in 2019 by Samara Romanis. A mother of four children and an inspiration to many women in the community of self help and development. Samara is a self pro claimed self love therapist. A beauty therapist since 2012 and a body image coach since 2019. She is passionate to building women up and helping to create the wave of feminism and power to the women, giving women a voice to be heard.
Being a mother certainly is a wonderful time in our lives, our babies really light us up and make us want to be a better person than we were the day before. It's a massive learning experience and one part of life that has no manual on what happens next. The awards were created from inspiration from Samara's own epiphany of feel lost and forgetting who she truly is. Sometimes becoming a mother, we can all too easily fall into the mum guilt trap, that we cannot be the person we once were or long to be in the future.
The awards are here to remind us that we are more than we think and that we can certainly still be the best mum for our children while still being and living our true self.
I believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
The passion of women
Why I am so damn passionate about the Inspiring Mum of the Year Awards?
As a woman, I guess you could say a new age feminist, mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
I still, to this day find it hard to 'fit in'. I've always been a miss-fit.
Not quite cool enough,
not quite nerdy enough,
not quite sexy enough,
Hang on let's stop it here!!
I was BORN to stand out, NOT to fit into a one size fits all.
That's exactly why I am here. I am here to broaden the voice of mums & women alike.
Mothers carry their children, raise them the best damn way they know how, and do so much more than just play. Never once, has a mum (that I know of) said, 'Gee, I am so freaking awesome at this mum thing and all the other things'.
More than likely, and I know you'll relate. As a mum, we tend self doubt, wonder if the neighbours can hear you yelling again, hope your not ruining your child's life, telling grandma they learned a new word TRUCK but it just sounds like F**K! Because that's what we say when we get frustrated. I know I do. I hold guilt over that.
Ahhh.... that magic word.
Let's try to abolish it, and stop making it a thing.
Please just know, you are an AMAZING MUM.
You are doing the BEST you can with what you have and what you know how.
You are more than you think!
So stand with me and let's celebrate the all mummas. We may not think we deserve anything, but the recognition, is enough to make any mums day!!
The mother behind the woman
Who is the mother behind the woman who feels so passionate about support and empowering other women?
Meet my mum.
She is so amazing. She even nominated ME for the awards I held in 2019.
After reading all of the inspiring mum nominations, I had an epiphany.
My passion is derived from my childhood.
My mum was a sinlge mum. Just us two during my childhood. She brought me up the best way she knew how, with what she had to provide.
She worked shift work in factories, as a personal care attendant, as a nanny to a family, as a canteen worker, then canteen manager and now working in a school office doing administration work, which she loves.
Growing up, there were some pretty tough times. Times I had forgotten about until most recent times. There were some weeks when my mum would have to seek out food vouchers to feed us, to get loans to be the most amazing santa, to just give me the best she could.
I suddenly realised, my mum is my inspiration.
She is my motivator of why I preach women empowerment and you are more than you think.
Because no matter what phase of life you are in, no matter how bad things get or how moving life can be, its refreshing to know that there is at least one person who is there. Who has got your back, who will give you the time of day.
One small act of kindness can change a persons entire day.
So thank you mum for being my inspiration, and giving me the best life we got to live during my childhood. I wouldn't change it for anything. Its created my values in life and shaped the person I am today.
I loves ya mum xoxo
